The amount of people who do not know it's marked on most gauges...is too damn high!

I am, unfortunately, one of those people. I've driven Mazda's for the past 10+ years, now I drive a Focus for the past year. I still pull up to the pump on the wrong side. It's a hard habit to break.

First lesson, look at the gauge.

The gas tank is on the underside right?

Is there an arrow pointing away from the fuel pump icon in your fuel gauge?

Yep, but I still pull up to the pump on the drivers side, when the gas cap is on the passenger side. I can reliably do this at least once a month. But, again, old habits die hard. I think all my prior cars for the last 15 years were the opposite of my Ford.

I have done this several times in my rental Fiat in Ireland. Its on the same side relative to the car but opposite side relative to the driver as my truck.

I did this for the first time ever a few days ago. It was my second time putting gas in a new car so I'd like to think that excuses me from ridicule.

My fuel filler was on the driver's side for twenty-six years.
Three months ago I got a car with the fuel filler on the passenger side.
The gas cap is on the wrong side. Do you have any idea how traumatic that is?

Passenger side on mine, opposed to the exhaust tip which is on the driver's side. I honestly don't know if it has an arrow pointing to it in the dash, but off the top of my head, I don't think it does.

I have two cars. One is the one I dd, and the other is not. One has the gas on the passenger's side and the other is on the driver's side. If I'm filling up the latter I sometimes pull up with the passenger's side next to the pump. It happens.
